Superfeet Launches Carbon Insole

Aftermarket footbed specialist Superfeet is launching a new Carbon insole for autumn 2013 and it's reckoned to be the brand's strongest and and thinnest insole which is also the lightest of its performance range.

Turn Down The Volume

The new insole mixes a 10% carbon-fibre reinforced cap under the heel and instep with an ultralight foam layer to produce a stiffer structure that's also very low profile. That's important because it means the insole can be used in snug-fitting performance shoes without reducing the internal volume of the footwear.

Increased volume is a side-effect of many of the aftermarket footbeds out there, which can be handy if you're trying to snug-up a shoe that's too roomy for you, but is problematic if you don't have much space to play with.

Closed Cell Foam

The foam is a tough, closed-cell version which won't absorb fluid and, says Superfeet, is durable too, perforated to improve cooling and has a bevelled edge to improve fit. There's also a natural anti-microbial treatment to inhibit the growth of bacteria and other odour-producing nasties.

Finally, the stiffness of the carbon cap means the footbed doesn't need buttressing like other low-profile Superfeet designs, which means it plays nicer with Gore-Tex and other waterproof liners and is less likely to wear through them.

Suits You

Should be ideal for anyone looking for an aftermarket footbed to suit a pair of close-fitting walking, running or cycling shoes or boots, where there's not much room for a thicker insole.
